The University of Tampa is a medium-size, comprehensive private university that provides its students exceptional learning experiences in a global context. The university offers more than 120 areas of undergraduate study and pre-professional programs. For qualifying students, the Honors Program offers expanded opportunities for instruction, research, internships, and study abroad.
Location and Student Life
Located on the gulf coast of Florida in an exciting, growing urban setting, The University of Tampa lies across the scenic Hillsborough River from downtown Tampa. History and tradition complement the beauty, high-tech performance, and modern style of the UT campus. Plant Hall, built in the 19th century as a luxury hotel, is a registered National Historic Landmark widely admired as one of the finest examples of Moorish architecture in the Western Hemisphere. The university has invested more than $220 million in new facilities and new technology in recent years, and the park-like 100-acre campus now includes 48 buildings.
Ten residence halls offer students close-knit residential communities. The nine-story Vaughn Center is the hub of campus life, with a student union, a campus store, a theatre, a conference center, and excellent dining facilities.
UT provides everything for an outstanding educational, social, and cultural experience, plus myriad opportunities to hone leadership skills with more than 140 clubs and organizations and one of the nation’s top NCAA Division II sports programs.
Financial Aid at UT
Each family’s financial situation is evaluated individually for need-based assistance. An early Aid Estimate is available. Academic scholarships are awarded to full-time entering students with a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or above, regardless of need. Athletic, leadership, ROTC, and other special talent and scholarships also are available.
