Description A full time service program for men and women age 18 and older. Members generally work individually, rather than in teams. And rather than provide director service, such as tutoring or housing renovation. AmeriCorps VISTA members work in non profit organizations, helping them expand services and reach more people. AmeriCorps VISTA members organize "campacity0building" activities for the nonprofit they serve, such as recruting and training community volunteers and setting up neighborhood education programs. members of AmeriCorps VISTA live in the low-income communities they serve.

Description A full-time residential service program for men and women ages 18 through 24. Basic Cosmetology Scholarship
Description Must be inrolled in the GASC Technology Center basic cosmetology program and plan on continuing training in the cosmetology field by enrolling in Transitions School of Cosmetology at MCC. Minimum GPA required is 2.5 in addition to good attendance and a minimum of 80% of work habits grade for the complete year. Bill Haley Scholarship
Description Offered to social work majors at Mott Community College. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in their social work major. Completion of the MCC Scholarship Application Data Sheet and requirements are needed along with three letters of recommendation. Of the three letters, one needs to be from a member of the social work department faculty. The minimum grade point average required is 2.5 and applicants who have more than one incomplete on their academic record will not be considered. This scholarship is not based on financial need.

Honors Program Scholarships

Indian Tuition Wavier
Description Provides free tuition to students who are 1/4 quantum blood, and can provide proof of Michigan residency a year prior to the semester of application. To apply, students need to have the Indian Higheer Education Tuition Waiver Application completed by the applicant and their tribal office. The tribal office should then forward the application to the Financial Aid Office. Previous Indian Tuition Waiver recipients do not need to reapply for funding, but need to notify the Financial Aid Office after registration activity. Waiver applications are available in the Financial Aid Office.

James C. Mumby Art Studio Scholarship
Description For students enrolled for at least six credit hours. Applicants must be either an Arts Major or a Graphic Design Major and have completed at least two Art Studio courses prior to applying fo rthis scholarship. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in prior Art Studio courses, is also required. Applicants with a history of 'withdrawl' and/or 'incomplete' grades in prior Art Studio courses are not eligible for this scholarship. Scholarship funding cannot be used toward repeating an Art Studio course. Recipients must enroll in an Art Studio course the semester that the scholarship is awarded. Award preference is given to applicants who do not have their educational costs paid by other funding sources. other aid sources must be applied to educational charges prior to utilizing this scholarship funding.

James C. Mumby Art Supply Stipend
Description To assist students intending to enroll in Art 131 or Art 132, Art 133, or art 146 with their supply costs. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Description Deadline for application, portfolio and a recomendation letter, is the first Monday in March each year. Applicants must be high school seniors who plan on enrolling as full time student (12 credits of more) at Mott Community College. Applicants must declare themselves as either and Art major or a Graphin Design major and intend to enroll in two basic Art Studio courses. Applicants who are recent high school graduates must have a letter of recommendation from their high school Art teacher. Applicants who are not recent high school graduates, a letter of reference from a work supervisor or professional contact may replace the recommendation requested from a high school Art teacher.

Lapeer Learner Secondary Scholarship
Description Must be a resident of Lapeer County; GPA of 3.0 as a high school graduate (within the last two years) or as a college student with at least six credits completed; must be enrolling for at least six credits. Attendance must be at the Lapeer campus if the required classes are offered. If the required classes are unavailable, the scholarship proceeds can be applied to the courses taken on the main campus. Description Applicants need to be dependent or spouse of the UAW Local 2102 Supervisory and Management unit member. Michigan Merit Award Scholarship
Description For current information regarding the Michigan Merit Award Scholarship, please visit their Web site at www.MeritAward.state.mi.us or contact them by calling 1-888-956-3748. Candidates must have graduated from high school or passed the General Educational Development (GED) test. To receive eligible funding the recipient must complete and submit the "Certification Form" (sent with the notification letters) and provide paperwork of their accepted enrollment in an approved postsecondary educational institution. Students who have been convicted of a felony involving an assault, physical injury or death will not be eligible to receive funding. Recipients of thei award have seven years from the date of their high school graduation (or GED certification) to use their award, provided that the "Certification Form" has been submitted.
