Aloha! Welcome to Brigham Young University Hawaii, an undergraduate institution that educates some 2,400 students from Asia, the Pacific islands, the U.S., and other parts of the world. Representing over 70 countries, our students are fulfilling a phenomenon envisioned by the university's founder, David O. McKay, ninth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1955, standing in an isolated field that would evolve into the beautiful campus of today, McKay declared: "From this school, I'll tell you, will go men and women whose influence will be felt for good towards the establishment of peace internationally." BYU-Hawaii offers a unique environment that helps students enlarge the intellect, build personal character and faith in God, and live harmoniously among those whose cultures are different from their own. This leads our students to a lifetime of learning and service in their careers, families, church, community and country. Our academics emphasize intercultural traditions, with 40 majors in business, technology, education, science, and the arts. A 17:1 student/faculty ratio gives students tremendous opportunities to learn from their professors. BYU-Hawaii is consistently ranked as a top-tier university by the prestigious news magazine, U.S.News and World Report.
