Barnard is located just across Broadway from Columbia University's main campus and is one of four undergraduate schools of the University (the others are Columbia College, the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of General Studies). At the same time, as an independent college, Barnard maintains its own campus, faculty, administration, trustees, operating budget and endowment, while Barnard students earn the degree of the University.  Since 1900, Barnard's inter-corporate agreement with Columbia has allowed both campuses to grow together, with distinct approaches, campus cultures, and communities in addition to nearly unlimited resources and extra- and co-curricular opportunities. Look for opportunities that complement one another between the two campuses.
