Significant changes have been made to Brookdale's General Education requirements in order to boost transferability. All of NJ's nineteen community colleges will be following the new General Education Model. The general education program change will not impact any student currently enrolled in the program from which they intend to graduate.
The new General Education Model will affect Brookdale's graduation requirements for students who change degree programs after December 23, 2007, so it is important that our records reflect your correct degree program (major). The Associate in Arts (A.A.) programs serve students who planto transfer to four-year colleges. These institutions require a broad range of general education courses for freshman and sophomores, and concentrate on major-related courses in the junior and senior years.
The Associate in Science (A.S.) programs serve students who plan to transfer to four-year colleges for science-related majors. These institutions require a broad range of general education courses for freshman and sophomores, and concentrate on major-related courses in the junior and senior years.
The Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college to pursue a Bachelor in Fine Arts Degree. It provides an exposure to the general education courses required by four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts Programs.
The Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) programs prepare students to enter employment as well-rounded, skilled workers.
