Dana College in Blair, Nebraska is home to more than 550 students each year. Students benefit from higher education that is deeply rooted in the Christian faith and upholds the traditions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). Since 1884, Dana College has been home to a learning-centered community where students and faculty openly discuss various perspectives. These interactions in and outside of the classroom help to promote the development of interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and other important values and knowledge that have a positive lifelong effects. Faculty not only provide instructions, but are great sources of counsel during the decision making process; mentoring as students make academic choices, jobs and careers, and establish their own personal values and beliefs. Working alongside staff, the Career Services provides valuable tools such as, interview preparation, resume writing, skill development, internships, and career identification and placement helping students as they transition from college to career.
With more than 40 academic programs, Dana College allows students to explore fields such as business, education and social work, among others. Courses provide relevant knowledge, skills, and experience necessary in the job market or in graduate school because classes combine essential elements of liberal arts education with career preparation. One way in which Dana incorporates career training is through the Discovery Term which is an intensive three-week program of internships, study abroad, community service, or other special projects related to one's chosen field of study. Dana takes into account the fact that learning is not just reserved for the classroom. Clubs, organizations, service projects, and athletics are seen as a vital component of the learning process. Dana College provides a solid ground for the discovery of interests, the development of skills, and the preparation of talented and valuable professionals.
