Having more than fifty years of experience, Daemen College in Amherst, New York prepares students for life and for leadership in an increasingly global society. Starting out as a small women's college in 1947, the College has evolved into a co-educational four-year liberal arts institution that remains firmly grounded in its sound academic traditions. This commitment promotes personal and intellectual development amongst its diverse student body. Men and women from across the nation and the world leave Daemen College prepared to assume roles of leadership and responsibility.
At Daemen College, students enjoy learning. Classrooms welcome the free exchange of ideas which allows varying viewpoints to be explored and creative thought to be on display. Students can choose from courses at the undergraduate and graduate level of study that open the door to several career opportunities. In addition, individuals can take advantage of Special and Interdisciplinary programs as well as distance learning options. Accounting Information Systems, English, Mathematics, Nursing, Physical Therapy, and several other undergraduate programs are offered through Daemen College. Studies in areas such as Athletic Training, Global Business, and Nursing allow students to pursue Master's degrees. Regardless of the program of study one chooses, each program is built upon the College's core curriculum that serves as a firm foundation for lifelong learning. This curriculum includes an innovative competency-based set of courses in which students gain valuable skills, critical thinking and creative problem solving, literacy in information and multi-media technology, communication skills, affective judgment, moral and ethical discernment, contextual competency, and civic responsibility.
Although Daemen places emphasis on academic success, the College also recognizes the importance to develop a set of values that encourages individuals to make a positive impact on society. To this end, the College offers several opportunities through its service learning program where students can interact with various local agencies, service organizations, and charitable causes. As one can see, Daemen College provides a wide range of opportunities that prepare graduates for positions of positive influence throughout the world.
