Founded in 1866, Carleton College is a small, private liberal arts college in the historic river town of Northfield, Minnesota. Best known for its academic excellence and warm, welcoming campus community, Carleton offers 36 majors and 15 concentrations in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.
Extracurriculars at Carleton are an integral part of student life. Although the Carleton student body consists of fewer than two thousand undergraduates, the school maintains nearly 150 active student organizations. The scenic campus also offers numerous recreational activities, including ultimate frisbee and broomball. For the athletes at heart, Carleton offers a surprisingly robust athletics program, featuring 19 varsity teams, 23 club teams, and dozens of intramural teams.
