Ashland University is a mid-sized regional teaching university, historically related to the Brethren Church. Our mission is to serve the educational needs of all students—undergraduate and graduate, traditional and non-traditional, full and part-time—by providing educational programs of high quality in an environment that is both challenging and supportive. The student-faculty ratio of 16-to-1 means students receive the individual attention essential for educational growth. Classes and labs at Ashland are taught by professors, not graduate assistants. Because the faculty are teaching oriented, they spend whatever time is necessary to ensure that students attain a quality education.

College of Arts & Sciences programs include: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, English, Environmental Science, ESL program (ACCESS), Family & Consumer Sciences, Foreign Languages, Geology, History, Journalism, Mathematics, Music, Nursing, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Radio/TV/Video, Religion (Pre-Seminary Program), Social Work, Sociology, Speech Communication, Sport Communication, Toxicology, amd Theatre.
