FWIW...my son did the community college route for his "self-prep" year. He is now in the class of 2013. He did also pick up a new sport, retake his SAT's and did well in typical 4/c classes.

I'm a junior in high school with a respectful 4.14 GPA, a composite score of 25 on the ACT, participate in 2 varsity sports, in academic clubs, and a volunteer with the coast guard auxiliary. I was wondering if this would be enough to be accepted at the USCGA.
Any suggestions or comments?
