Adelphi University is one of the most selective private institutions on Long Island, admitting only 70 percent of the freshman application pool. Currently, Adelphi enrolls 8,333 students from 40 states and 49 foreign countries. In 1943, under the direction of Mildred Montag, Adelphi College created the first Central Collegiate School of Nursing, which became one of the largest units of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt dedicated Alumnae and Harvey Hall in May 1944.

But I think that the recognition award is mostly geared toward community service, even so I heavily participated in community service activities throughout the year.
