Overview
Millikin University, founded in 1901, is a private, comprehensive university offering undergraduate, graduate, and degree-completion programs to nearly 2,400 full time and part-time students. Located on 75-acres in Decatur, Illinois, Millikin is in the heart of America’s Heartland.
Academics
- Millikin offers more than 60 majors, minors, and pre-professional programs within four colleges/schools: Arts & Sciences, Business, Fine Arts, and Professional Studies.
- Students have opportunities to work closely with nationally recognized faculty and perform their learning on campus and off. Millikin's student-faculty ratio is 11:1.
- Millikin students succeed after graduation: 99 percent of 2008 graduates gained employment or entrance to graduate school within six months of graduation.
Living at Millikin
- Millikin requires students to live on campus for the first three years of study.
- Students are offered comfortable, furnished housing in one of Millikin’s nine residence halls or at The Woods at Millikin Apartment Complex.
- All of Millikin students are given Internet access and their own e-mail accounts. Most of Millikin’s residence halls are wireless and students have access to computers throughout the campus 24 hours a day.
Location
- Located in Decatur, Illinois, Millikin is only a three-hour drive south of Chicago, Illinois, where one of the largest international airports in the United States is located.
- Decatur is home to several major corporations—including Archer Daniels Midland, Caterpillar Inc., and Tate & Lyle—that offer internships to students. Smaller businesses and firms in town also welcome Millikin interns studying a variety of subjects.
