What had the biggest impact on your decision to attend UNF?
Though there were many factors in my decision to attend UNF; the most prominent one is definitely the jazz department. UNF’s award-winning undergraduate jazz studies program is one of the top in the nation. The faculty is complete with world-class, legendary musicians who take interest in their students. Expectations are high from the professors. Students are responsible for making use of the invaluable resources this program has to offer. UNF has a great deal of programs for students to choose from; the music department is just one example.

What has been the best thing about college so far?
The best thing about college for me has been the growth process. I have learned so much in my last two years here at UNF. I’ve learned many life lessons; having to be responsible for myself completely has taught me a lot. It’s been a great experience and I look forward to graduating and seeing what else the world has to offer.

In preparing for college, I was fortunate enough to take several Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses in high school, which counted toward college credit.

Do you participate in any activities or organizations?
I am a full-time jazz studies major which is where the majority of my time goes.

Who is your favorite faculty member and why?
My favorite faculty member is Dr. Bill Prince. He is a very respected musician with multiple years of experience and knowledge.

What is your favorite class and why?
My favorite class is evolutions of jazz—it’s a very laid back learning environment and rich with valuable information on the history and evolution of jazz in America.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to attend graduate school and eventually develop a career as a professional musician.

Do you have any advice for future students?
College is all about work—if you do all of your work, you will be fine.
