About Montgomery College

Montgomery College is a public, community college with three campuses—at Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring—plus workforce development/continuing education centers throughout Montgomery County, Maryland.

Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus

The Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus is nestled among charming tree-lined streets and Victorian houses at the edge of Washington, DC, and is accessible by metro rail. Established on this site in 1950, this cosmopolitan campus now serves more than 5,500 students from more than 175 countries each semester. The campus is currently expanding and modernizing its facilities to meet the needs of tomorrow’s workforce.

Students are the centerpiece of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus. Dedicated faculty and staff members create an atmosphere where learning takes place inside and outside of the classroom. The college implements high-quality programs and services that are geared to the educational, professional, and social needs of the diverse student body.

The Takoma Park/Silver Spring is the headquarters of the Health Sciences program at Montgomery College. This campus also offers traditional collegiate courses in the humanities/social sciences and math/science disciplines. With the addition of the King Street Arts Center and the Cultural Arts Center, Montgomery College will enhance Silver Spring’s growing reputation as a destination for arts and entertainment in the down county area.

Montgomery College serves nearly 60,000 students per year, through both credit and noncredit courses. The college also offers a wide range of career and technical programs, including automotive technology, building trades, radiologic technology, and biotechnology.

Among the college’s signature programs are:

  • Renaissance Scholars, an intensive honors program for non-traditional students who take classes part-time.
  • Paul Peck Humanities Institute, which provides a wide array of cultural events, activities, and exclusive opportunities for students to intern at the Smithsonian Institution or the U.S. Library of Congress.
