Production Steps

Your production contact will send you a production packet via e-mail; this document will list out the products you will be working on and instructions on how to submit your materials. Your production packet will also include links to the tutorial site where you can find the specifications for each product, as well as a timeline that details the important milestones in the production process (key steps are summarized below). The deadlines that are your responsibility are materials due and approval. Successful completion of your products depends on these two deadlines.

Materials Due— This date is the key to delivering your materials on time. We need to have your materials, including all photos, logos, video, audio, and text, by this date. Missing this date could result in your product not delivering on time and/or the incurring of additional fees. Please make sure that the materials are pre-approved by all the people involved at your school.

Initial Proof— This is the first proof of your product. If you notice any errors or wish to change any information (text, logos, photos, colors, etc.), please communicate this to your production team member.

Final Proof— Our editorial staff will review your presentation/profile before we send you the final proof, but we ask that you also double check the final proof to be sure that all of your requested changes have been made. Contact your production team member right away if you find any corrections that need to be made. Hobsons will only accept three rounds of changes on most products to ensure a timely production process; custom publishing and multimedia products are exceptions to this limitation.

Approval— When you’re satisfied with the final product, you can send your approval form by fax or e-mail. It’s important that we receive your final approval by the date noted in your production timeline in order to deliver your product on time.

Quality Assurance Submission— Multimedia and Web presentations go through a thorough functionality testing process called Quality Assurance QA).

Quality Assurance Approval— Once the QA process is complete, your product/presentation is ready for publication. Web products will appear on the appropriate Web site. For CD and DVD products requiring duplication and delivery, the process takes an additional four to six weeks.

*Hobsons requires a standard amount of time to update/create a product. The timeline may be adjusted contingent upon materials submission.
